Barrister, Monckton Chambers
Robert Palmer practises in the fields of public, regulatory and EU law. Recent high profile judicial review cases include challenges as varied as those to the redevelopment of Winchester city centre, to boycotts of goods from the West Bank, the CMA’s decisions on private healthcare, the Government’s withdrawal of renewable energy subsidies, and to the imposition of Iranian sanctions. He is a member of the Attorney General’s A Panel of counsel. He is identified as a leading junior in Administrative and Public Law by Chambers UK, in which he is variously described as “an excellent public law junior whose written and oral advocacy often has the elegance and clarity of a QC”; “a very calm and cool advocate with excellent knowledge of European law”; and as a barrister whose “preparation is first-class; he’s client-friendly and sticks to his guns.” Who’s Who Legal 2016 reckons that “clients couldn’t wish for a more skilled advocate”. He is a former President of the Oxford Union.
